Listening (Part 1 Guided Learning)
Daily Private Podcast: The Core of the Course
Hello, I’m Todd, the creator of ELLLO and the listening coach for this course.
One of the most important activities in this course is the Daily Private Podcast.
There are 20 Daily Private Podcasts in total.
They are designed to help students improve:
-
Listening
-
Vocabulary
-
Grammar (naturally)
Why Listening Comes First
The number one way people learn a language is through extensive listening.
Think about how you learned your first language:
-
You heard it every day
-
You did not study grammar rules
-
You learned before you could read
Listening builds the foundation for:
-
Understanding
-
Speaking
-
Natural grammar use
Reading is also important, but:
Listening comes first. Reading comes next.
In this course, students do both.
What the Daily Private Podcast Is
In each podcast:
-
The teacher (me) talks naturally
-
There are no slides
-
No bullet points
-
No reading from a script
I simply talk about a topic and use the target grammar naturally.
For example:
-
If the grammar is causative verbs, I use words like let, make, and help many times
-
Students hear the same grammar again and again in real sentences
This is how grammar becomes natural.
Repetition That Works
Each unit includes:
-
4 Daily Private Podcasts
So students hear the same grammar:
-
Over 4 days
-
In different contexts
-
At a natural speed
This is much better than studying grammar deeply for just one day.
It helps students learn at a comfortable pace.
Real Interaction After Listening
Each podcast ends with a question.
Students can:
-
Write a comment
-
Share their opinion or experience
This becomes their writing homework.
There is also speaking homework in other lessons, where:
-
Students send audio
-
The teacher replies with audio
For comments:
-
The teacher replies
-
We do not correct English
-
We simply respond like normal conversation
This builds confidence and fluency.
How Long Is Each Podcast?
A typical podcast is:
-
About 7–8 minutes
-
Around 1,500 words
That is a lot of real English in a short time.
This is natural language acquisition.
Release Schedule
Students receive:
-
10 podcasts in a row
-
1 day break
-
Another 10 podcasts
So:
-
20 total Daily Private Podcasts
-
Released one per day
-
Only for this course
