Top Ten ESL Listening Sites
There are many great sites or places online to learn English. Below are some selected sites that are dedicated for ESL learners.
This site is part of the elllo family. It has over 50 free animated conversations that focus on a grammar point. The site has four levels and comes with worksheets.
This site is produced by the U.S. State Department. It is a great place to study academic English and business English. It offers lots of news stories in three levels, and some videos about vocabulary or grammar.
This site offers short six-minute lessons in the form of a podcast. Students can listen to a professional radio show and learn English at the end of the audio lesson. There are also many other lesson types at BBC Learning English.
Created by Shayna Oliveira, this site is a blog that offers hundreds of lessons on vocabulary and grammar. Shayna produced 100s of videos which you can watch on her site or her Youtube Channel.
Created by Sean Banville, this site is a great resource for teachers and students looking for contemporary lessons about news and trending topics. Each lesson comes with audio, a script and numerous activities and a printable worksheet.
One of the oldest, and most popular ESL listening sites, this site created by Randall has hundreds of listening lessons organized by level and situations.
This site is the creation of Gabby Wallace and offers lots of free lessons especially on the site's Youtube and Instagram channels. Many of the lessons deal with confusing words and grammar points as well as tips for speaking English confidently.
Primarily a reading site, this site offers lots of interesting articles with audio support on a variety of topics and genres. Students can teachers can choose from a range of listening activities.
This site is an extension of the popular Ted Talks website, which features special lectures and animations for classroom purposes.
10) Youglish
This site is a great resource for students learning vocabulary. Students can search for any word or phrase on Youtube, and Youglish then displays all the videos with the speaker using the target language. All videos are synced so the target language is highligted and appears immediately in the video.
