Much / A lot
Both much and a lot of can go before a noun to express quantity.
I ate a lot of pizza
I don't have much money.
We can use much and a lot after a verb the same way that we use often in Yes/No questions.
Do you go there much?
Do you go there a lot? (Not common)
Do you go there often?
For negative sentences we only use often or much.
I don't go there much.
I don't go there often.
For positive sentences we only use often or a lot.
I go there often.
I go there a lot.
We also use a lot and much to show a high degree of doing something.
I ate a lot.
She spoke a lot.
You work a lot.
I did not buy much.
I did not do much.
I do not eat much.
