Aiko / Japan
Hello, my name is Aiko and I'm from Japan. My question is what is a wedding like in your country?
It is a difficult question because there are many different kinds of wedding in Japan. We often have a ceremony followed by a reception. You can have a religious ceremony or non religious ceremony. For example you could have a Shinto styled ceremony. You will wear kimono and a Shinto priest will bless you. You can have Christian style ceremony. You wear a dress and tuxedo and you have a pastor as well.
The reception usually lasts for about two hours and the guests will enjoy a lovely four-course meal, but unfortunately the bride and the groom are too busy changing into lovely dresses or visiting their guests' table greeting them, and then they might not have the time to eat those lovely meals.
I hear nowadays more and more people prefer little smaller, homey kind of parties, like a restaurant wedding or cafe wedding. It's more like a home party with your close friends. I think that's lovely too.
