My answer is yes. I once lost my purse at the station in Margate in England. That purse had my passport and wallet and mobile phone and everything very important to me so I was devastated. First I canceled my bank cards and then my boyfriend at the time, who is my husband now, called my mobile just in case someone had picked it up and a girl did answer but she wouldn't agree to return it to us and instead she gave him very nasty swear words and then hung up the phone.

So we called the police and then we filed a report and the police officer was very nice and kind and the official report made it easier for me to get a new passport and a train card.

Although it was a nasty experience, it taught me very well that I should be more careful with my belongings.
