Joel
Everyone talks about how kids these days use technology much more than in the past, but when I think back to my childhood, I remember how technology was a huge part of my life. The first thing is the cassette tape, especially when I was in high school, every Friday night my favorite radio station used to play complete records, and I would stay up till about ten o'clock in the evening and have my cassette recorder ready and I would record the entire album, the entire record from the radio and then I would be able to play it in my car.
I was born in 1971, so when I was a kid, people weren't using the internet but I had a computer in my house when I about 11 or 12 years old and my dad taught me some basic programming and I even created a program where I fooled one of my friends into thinking that we had entered into the computer record system at my school and he was getting a bad grade in social studies and I made it look like we had entered into the social studies records file and I changed his grade and he was very scared about this. He went home and told his dad and finally called me back later on that evening and said, "Hey, my dad said that you need a modem to break into another computer."
album
I would record the entire album, the entire record from the
radio.
An 'album' is a collection of songs that is produced by a
singing artist or a band. Now 'albums' are usually sold in
the form of CDs.
Notice the following:
- I would like to buy their new album.
- I have been in the recording studio recording my new
album for the last few months.
fool
I even created a program where I fooled one of my friends.
When you 'fool' someone it means that you make them believe
something that is not true.
Notice the following:
- I don't think you can fool me.
- I think she is trying to fool you into believing that
she is a good cook.
record system
We had entered into the computer record system at my
school.

Notice the following:
- I will need to look it up in the record system.
- I would like you to organize a new record system for me.
grade
He was getting a bad grade in social studies.
A 'grade' is the mark or number that you receive for a
particular subject at school.
Notice the following:
- I need to study harder so that I can improve my grades.
- He has done really well at school this year and he has
got good grades.
call me back
Finally called me back later on that evening and said,
"Hey, my dad said that you need a modem to break into
another computer."
When you 'call someone back' it means that you return his
telephone call.
Notice the following:
- I am not at home right now. Can you please call me back?
- I think it would be better if you would call me back
when I am not cooking dinner.
