First of all, we're going to talk about remedies.

When you 'talk about remedies,' you discuss the types of the things that will make you feel better if you are ill.

Notice the following:

  1. I went to the alternative health shop to talk about remedies for my cold.
  2. I went to the doctors so that I could talk about remedies for my sore leg.

hot lemon drinks

I take lemon, hot lemon drinks and I take tablets.

'Hot lemon drinks' are the traditional remedy for when you have a cold or a sore throat. They are made out of hot water and fresh lemons.

Notice the following:

  1. My mum always makes me a hot lemon drink when I have a sore throat.
  2. I find that hot lemon drinks are very effective at treating the common cold.


Sleep is my secret for the hangover.

If you have a 'hangover,' it means that your body is feeling the ill effects of having drank too much alcohol.

Notice the following:

  1. I do not want any more wine, as I do not want to be hungover in the morning.
  2. I have a terrible hangover today.

eat fatty foods and sugary foods

When I have a hangover I really, really want to eat fatty foods and sugary foods.

When you 'eat fatty and sugary foods,' it means that you eat foods that have a high content of saturated fats and sugars. These types of food are typically bad for your health.

Notice the following:

  1. I try not to eat fatty foods and sugary foods.
  2. It's difficult to avoid eating fatty and sugary foods around the holidays.

in the same boat

I'm in the same boat, I love fast foods when I have a hangover.

When you are 'in the same boat' as someone, it means that you are in a similar situation to them or you feel the same way.

Notice the following:

  1. Me and you are in the same boat, I think.
  2. We both have lots of children, so we are in the same boat.
