We use the phrase 'I have to say' when we want to add important information.  Notice the following:

  1. I have to say it was an interesting class.
  2. I liked the presentation, but I have to say, I'm not impressed with the product.

We spend twelve days with them.

We 'spend' time doing an activity.  Notice the following:

  1. I spend a lot of time on my computer.
  2. He spends 2 hours a day at the gym.

That's the beauty of it.

The 'beauty' of something is what makes it so good.  Notice the following:

  1. English allows you to communicate with people from around the world. That's the beauty of it.
  2. It's free. That's the beauty of it.

our hearts speak as one

During camp, our hearts speak as one.

Here, the phrase 'our hearts speak as one' means that we can often communicate emotionally as well as with words.  Notice the following:

  1. My wife and I have been married for over 30 years. Our hearts speak as one.
  2. Though we're from different cultures, our hearts speak as one.

Going back to the topic

Going back to the topic we were discussing.

Sometimes during a conversation, the topic can can quickly change. When we want to return to an earlier topic, we say 'going back to the topic'.  Notice the following:

  2. Let's go back to the last topic.
