Ummi / Malaysia
Is marriage becoming outdated?
Hi everyone. My name is Ummi and I'm from Malaysia. So my question is, is marriage becoming outdated?
This is a really a big question, because a lot of people, a lot of my friends, in my age, around my age, they are getting married a lot. And I don't think it's something that's becoming outdated. I think the only thing that's probably part of marriage process itself, like cultures and traditions, they are becoming a bit outdated itself, because in a lot of cultures marriage is something big and people just tend to imagine that it has to be something big, or something expensive, which is not true. It's up to the individual itself, they have the choice on how they want their wedding to be, so it doesn't have to follow certain guidelines or certain societal expectations to that. So yeah, marriage is not becoming outdated, the only thing that's becoming outdated in marriage itself is just the culture and tradition that's not rationally set up by the society.
