just in time

So I opened the parcel this morning and there, just in time for Christmas, is a big huge thing of Toblerone Chocolates.

'Just in time' means that something gets done at the last minute.

Notice the following:

  1. We arrived just in time to catch the train.
  2. You are just in time. I thought you were going to be late!

six-pack

A six-pack of Tayto’s Cheese and Onion Crisps.

A 'six-pack' is a multi-pack of a product that you can purchase that contains 6 of the same items. Sodas frequently come in six-packs.

Notice the following:

  1. I will buy a six-pack of beer and take it to the party.
  2. If you buy a six-pack it is usually cheaper than if you buy them individually.

brand name

Tayto’s is an Irish company, and so it’s an Irish brand name.

A 'brand name' is the trade name of a company or a product. The brand name can refer to the maker of clothing, food or necessary objects.

Notice the following:

  1. We still have to think of a good brand name for our product.
  2. I think the brand name is protected so we could not call our product the same thing.

not a big fan

I’m not a big crisp fan.

When you are 'not a big fan' of something it means that you don't really like it.

Notice the following:

  1. I am not a big fan of country music. 
  2. I do not think he is a big fan of chocolates so perhaps we can make him a cake instead.

taste of home

It really makes me feel feel closer to home, this is the taste of home.

'A taste of home' means that something reminds you of where you come from.

Notice the following:

  1. I like films that are set in England as they give me a real taste of home.
  2. Sometimes when we feel lonely we go out to an American restaurant for a little taste of home.
