How to Practice Speaking
Learn Tips and Trick for practicing speaking on ELLLO!
Three Easy Ways to Practice Speaking
Most learners want to speak English. But speaking practice is not always easy.
You may not have a teacher. You may not have a speaking partner. You may not live near English speakers.
You can still practice. Here are three easy activities.
1. Try karaoke speaking
Choose a short ELLLO video. One Minute English and English Talks are good choices.
- Listen two or three times.
- Read the captions while you listen.
- Turn off the sound.
- Play the video again. Read the captions aloud.
- Try to speak at the same speed as the speaker.
Choose an easy lesson. If your listening level is B1, try an A2 lesson for speaking practice.
2. Stop and repeat
Play an ELLLO lesson. Stop after a short sentence. Repeat the sentence.
Try to copy the speaker's sounds, rhythm, and speed.
You do not need to repeat every sentence. Choose useful sentences. Move through the lesson slowly.
3. Use voice typing
Open an ELLLO script. Then open a voice typing tool. You can use voice typing in Google Docs.
Read the script aloud. Watch the words appear on the screen. Compare them with the ELLLO script.
If the words match, your speech is probably clear. If they do not match, try again. Voice typing is not perfect. But it can give you useful feedback.
Choose your favorite activity
You can practice speaking when you are alone. Try all three activities. Choose the one you enjoy most.
