winter vacation

Okay, now I'll talk about my winter vacation.

'Winter vacation' is a time when you have a vacation from school during the winter months. The exact dates of the vacation are different for every school. Notice the following:

1. Usually I use winter vacation to relax and sleep.
2. My friends and I are going to volunteer in Honduras during winter vacation this year.
   

hometown

I spent two weeks in my hometown which is Daytona Beach, Florida.
Your 'hometown' is either the place where you were born or where you spent most of your time when you were a child. Notice the following:

1. He is like a hero in his hometown.
   
2. I am kind of embarrassed that I come from such a small hometown.
   

temperature

It was sunny every day and the temperature was almost 80 degrees.

The 'temperature' of a place is how hot or cold it is. The temperature is measure in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit. Notice the following:

1. Do you know what the temperature is today?
   
2. The temperature here is perfect in the spring.
   

leisurely

I spent every morning having a nice leisurely cup of coffee.

If you do something in a 'leisurely' way you don't rush, but instead you do in a calm and relaxed way. Notice the following:

1. It is impossible to make him move quickly. He does everything in a leisurely way.
   
2. On the weekends I prefer to have a leisurely start to my day.
   

enjoyed the sun and surf

I got my bicycle out, rode down to the beach, and enjoyed the sun and surf.

To 'enjoy the sun and surf' in a place you spend time outside on the beach next to the ocean. Notice the following:

1. She can spend hours reading a book on the beach just enjoying the sun and the surf.
   
2. My favorite kind of vacation is one where I enjoy the sun and surf.
