My Cat

I'm going to talk about what I have to do with my cat every year because he lives outdoors. And I think he's part Maine Coon, which means he has a really thick, furry coat that comes in especially during wintertime when it's cold outside, that by the time the weather starts to warm up, his fur is so matted from being so thick.

So every spring when the weather starts to warm up, I actually shave him. I'm afraid to shave all of him. Since he does live outdoors, I don't want him to get sunburned or be exposed to the elements so much. So I only shave the mats off, so he looks pretty mangey and it's actually kind of ridiculous, but the cat doesn't seem to mind. He actually kind of enjoys it. At first, he doesn't so much, he fights me a little bit, but then once he realizes that I'm actually doing something to make him feel better, then he starts to relax and enjoy the process. And even though afterwards he looks crazy, I think he does feel a lot better.
