The Galapagos Islands

Last year I was lucky enough to visit the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador, and one of the things that actually stood out for me was the fact that people and the wildlife tend to coexist so wonderfully and apart from all the laws that actually enforce this and protect the nature quite heavily, is the fact that the animals are actually quite used to being around people. Now, the way that I was actually introduced to this was when I went into the ocean to swim, and out of nowhere a sea lion was swimming right beside me, just unbothered, which was quite frightening for me in the moment. But after thinking about it, I just found it absolutely beautiful.
