1. Vocabulary Warm-Up

Give students the worksheet.

Have them match the food words with the pictures.

Briefly review the vocabulary before listening.

2. First Listening – Which Words Do You Hear?

Play the conversation.

Unlike some other lessons, students do not put the words in order. Instead, they check the words they hear in the conversation.

Seven of the nine words are mentioned. Two words — avocado and jam — are not.

After listening, have students compare their answers with a partner.

3. Listening for Detail – Multiple-Choice Quiz

Have students look at the multiple-choice questions.

Play the conversation again and have students listen for the answers.

Students can compare answers with a partner before checking as a class.

Teaching Tip

The answer key includes timestamps showing exactly when each quiz answer is spoken.

Use the timestamps to play a section of the audio, pause immediately after the answer, and elicit the answer from students.

4. Discussion – Sandwiches You Like

Use the discussion questions at the bottom of the worksheet.

Students work in pairs and talk about sandwiches they like and how they make them.

This gives students a natural opportunity to reuse the vocabulary and imperatives from the listening.

5. Grammar Focus – Imperatives

Review how we use imperatives to give instructions or commands.

Examples from the lesson include:

• Slice the tomatoes.

• Toast the bread.

• Spread the mayonnaise.

• Fry the bacon.

• Add the lettuce.

• Cut the sandwich in half.

Students can also review the short grammar explanation provided with the lesson.

6. Grammar Puzzle – Choose the Correct Word

Have students read the conversation.

Throughout the transcript, students will see two choices in parentheses. They choose the word that correctly completes each sentence.

For example:

How do you (made / make) your favorite sandwich?

Students choose make.

Have students work through the conversation individually or in pairs.

Afterward, play the audio again so they can listen and check their answers.

7. Optional Online Activity

Students can also complete the puzzle online.

They open the Puzzle activity, read through the conversation, and choose the correct words.

At the end, they submit their answers and receive a score.

The activity can be accessed on students' phones, making it useful for classwork, homework, or self-study.

8. Answer Key and QR Code

The worksheet includes an answer key for easy checking.

It also includes a QR code, allowing students to access the lesson and audio on their phones outside of class.
