Module 4: Create a Class

Welcome to Module 4: Create a Class. In the previous modules, we looked at different ways to create learning materials. Now we're going to take a different turn and look at how you can organize those materials and create a learning environment for your students.

We'll start with Quizlet and look at how to create a class set and share it with students. Students can then practice vocabulary on their own, including at home. We'll also look at Revisely, which I like for creating printable flashcards. These are great for interactive activities where students can work together with physical cards in class.

Here are the main tools we'll look at:

1. Quizlet. Create vocabulary sets, share them with your class, and give students a way to practice independently.
2. Revisely. Turn vocabulary into printable flashcards that you can use for interactive activities in class.
3. Skool. Create an online community or course where you can organize content and interact with your students.
4. Substack. Create a class newsletter or webpage and send new content directly to students who subscribe.
5. Trello. Plan and organize your course, keep track of materials, collaborate with others, and create a simple system for distributing content.

The main idea is to start bringing everything together. Once you've created vocabulary activities, grammar lessons, listening activities, videos, and other materials, you need somewhere to organize them. You also need a way to tell students what to do, share new content, and keep track of everything you're creating.

You don't necessarily need a complicated learning management system to do this. A few simple tools can help you bundle your materials into a class, course, or curriculum and create an online learning experience for your students.

This module is shorter and easier than some of the other modules. The main goal is to give you some food for thought and show you a few different ways you can turn the materials you've been creating into an organized class experience.
