Jeopardy Labs for Teachers
Create Review Games
Jeopardy Labs recreates the classic Jeopardy game show format for the classroom, free and ready to use with no complicated setup. Choose or build a board of categories and point values, split the class into teams, and let students compete to answer first — a familiar, engaging way to review just about any topic.
Why use this tool?
The format is instantly familiar to most students, which means almost no explanation is needed before playing. Teams compete to answer, the teacher reveals the answer with a keypress, and points are awarded on the spot — it's fast-moving and keeps the whole class engaged, not just whoever is called on.
There's also a large library of existing public games to browse and use directly, so it's entirely possible to run a review session using someone else's game board without building anything yourself. If you do want to build a custom one for your own content, the site supports that too, though the exact creation steps are best explored directly on the Jeopardy Labs site.
How to use it
- Find or open a game. Browse Jeopardy Labs' existing public games, or open one you've already built.
- Set the number of teams. Choose how many teams will be playing before starting.
- Let a team choose a category and point value. Just like the show, a team picks a category and dollar amount (for example, "Europe for 100").
- Reveal the answer. Once a team or student responds, press the space bar to reveal the correct answer on screen.
- Award points and continue. Give points to the team that answered correctly, hit Escape to return to the main board, and let the next team choose.
- Reset if needed. If a board has already been played, use the Reset option to clear it and start over from the beginning.
Because it requires so little setup, Jeopardy Labs is an easy way to add a game-based review session to a class without much prep time — especially if you start with an existing public game rather than building your own from scratch.
